Here is a nice romantic drama for the weekend, Remember Me staring Robert Pattinson. Here is the trailer if you haven’t seen it…

I have a feeling this story will have a nice little twist at the end. I think this will be a great date movie. Are you going to go watch it this weekend?

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We all have heard the phrase reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling is very important when it comes to the environmetn. Here are 3 of my favorite recycling tips…

Reuse
One micro fiber cloth can take the place of 60 rolls of paper towels before it needs replacing — and is gentle enough to use on nearly all surfaces (even eyeglasses). Keep a few handy for absorbing spills, wiping down counters, de-streaking mirrors, and more. It also saves you money and time from buying paper towels.

BYOM

Bring your own travel mug to your favorite coffee place. Most places will fill it for you, and often at a discount. This also works with water bottles

Buy the Jug
Plastic jugs are much more recyclable. Buy those and toss them in your recycling bin!

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask

Many of us don’t ask the right questions at the right time. It is easy to blame other people but you don’t want to be timid when it comes to your health. Asking question of health care professionals can save your life and even the lives of others. Here are a few questions you should ask next time you are at the doctor’s office or in the hospital…

  1. Make sure your nurses and health care workers have washed their hands. You may not be that sick but the last person they dealt with might be. Remember nurses and other health care professionals are people like you and me and they forget things sometimes.
  2. When you go to the pharmacist double check and make sure they filled the correct prescription. Most errors in medicine come from the wrong drug or drug dose.
  3. If the doctor prescribes a medication see if you can get the side effects in written format. This way if something unusual happens you don’t have to guess if it is something to be concerned about.

Hey you learn something new everyday! The earthquake in Chile may have actually shortened the length of days on Earth. According to NASA the 8.8 earthquake shifted the Earth’s rotation and shortened the length of an Earth day by 1.23 milliseconds. Now that doesn’t seem like much but its not as if we don’t have enough things to do and not enough time to do it in. Here is a little tidbit you can share with people who doesn’t feel as if they were directly affected by the natural disaster.

Travel Tuesday: Food on the Road

Just moved to a new city? On vacation? Looking for a great place to eat? Here are some of  the websites I frequent when I’m looking for something new and different…

Yelp.com: This is a great way to find honest reviews on restaurants across the country. This is absolutely one of my favorite sites ever, it is so helpful!

OpenTable.com: This helps you compare menus and prices which is great!

Restaurant.com: I’m always searching for the best deals around and restaurants.com has $10 to $100 gift card to some of your favorite restaurants. This is a great deal if you are trying to find new places in your area!

A story to warm your heart

I love inspirational stories. I just read an article about a DVD coming out about a man who is finally able to hear after 27 years of life. The story takes you on the journey of Justin Garrett who recieves a bilateral cochlear implant in 2006 and hears for the first time. It’s called from Silence to Sound. It reminds me of one of MTV’s True Life espisodes where a teenager recieved a coclear implant and he hears his voice and the sound of his own name for the first time. A true tear jerker I must admit.

comic bookI have never really been big on comic books. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate the art it takes to make one and the writing skills to keeps little boys and grown people who are kids at heart entertained. But, I never knew a comic book could sell for so much. I just read about the first comic book to sell for 1 million dollars! ComicConnect.com sold a rare top-condition comic book called Action Comics #1. It is the comic book that put Superman on the map. I don’t know much about comic books but I think this is a really cool story!

Jaden Smith in Karate Kid Remake

I’m so excited to hear that Jaden Smith, Will Smith’s son is going to be in the Karate Kid Remake. Now, this film doesn’t come out until the summer but I just saw the trailer and it is such a modern twist on the classic movie. I generally hate remakes of movies especially great movies but I can’t wait for this. The movie also stars Taraji P. Henson and Jackie Chan.

Here is a synopsis of the movie

The Karate Kid, directed by Harald Zwart (The Pink Panther 2), stars Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan, and Taraji P. Henson. Smith plays Dre, a skateboarding video game buff who moves to China after his single mother is forced to go there for work. Unable to speak Chinese, Dre finds it hard to settle in, and gets beat up by the local bully. Chan plays Mr. Han, a maintenance man who spots his black-eye and offers to teach him both martial arts and Chinese, so he can defend against all the kung-fu students.

I can’t wait to see this movie! Who is with me?

We’ve seen the shallow, cut throat side of the fashion industry portrayed in movies.  Women obsessed with the latest Gucci or Pucci, that are frazzled but not so busy that they can’t keep their hair and makeup perfectly coiffed.  Enter Kelly Cutrone, owner and founder of People’s Revolution, a fashion pr firm and star of Bravo’s new reality show, “Kell on Earth”.  We get a dose of Kelly from “The Hills” and “The City”, however, in this latest show, we see what I consider the actual cogs and wheels of the industry turning and working at an unbelievable pace.  This show should be more than interesting because although Kelly works in the fashion industry, she is by no mean glamorous.  She is by no means worried about it either.  She is a business woman that is focused on her career and doing an incredible job raising her daughter.
